
{"id":8867,"date":"2019-10-29T11:44:46","date_gmt":"2019-10-29T10:44:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/consorzioensiel.it\/universita\/universita-di-pisa\/"},"modified":"2024-09-23T16:13:44","modified_gmt":"2024-09-23T14:13:44","slug":"universita-di-pisa","status":"publish","type":"universita","link":"https:\/\/consorzioensiel.it\/en\/consortium\/universities\/associated\/universita-di-pisa\/","title":{"rendered":"Universit\u00e0 di Pisa"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Present research activities of the Electric Power Engineering research group deal with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Electric power systems<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>operation and management of deregulated electric systems (electricity markets, dispatching, tariffs, regulation, public procurement)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>large power system reliability (operation of interconnected systems, probabilistic approach, decision support, emergency and restoration, resilience, Net Transfer Capability, operating reserve, advance dispatching, impact of not-programmable resources and of electric vehicle charging)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>electricity transmission (Dynamic Thermal Rating, active shielding of electric lines, visual and electromagnetic impact, HVDC, DC grids)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>thermal power plant modelling (dynamic performances, restoration and emergency procedures, flexibility)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smart Grids e Distibuted Generation (Large Scale Virtual Power Plants, storage system management, Power Quality and compensation, Demand Response, Energy Management Systems and Power Management Systems,)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rural electrification in developing countries (sizing and operation, planning, load diagram assessment)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smart Yard (hybrid systems for construcion yard supply)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Energy Storage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Modelling and simulation of storage and hybrid systems (electrochemical batteries, supercapacitors, compressed and liquefied air, liquefied oxygen, Power to Gas)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laboratory tests on batteries and supercapacitors (performance and life tests)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optimal sizing and operation of storage systems integrated in static and on-board storage systems, adopting deterministic and stochastic criteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On-board electric systems<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Modelling, simulation and design of hybrid and electric vehicles (innovative hybrid powertrains, object-oriented modelling and simulation, energy management, sizing, prototyping and pilot units, urban busses, hybrid working machines)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Elctrificed urban transport systems (modelling and simulation, static and on-board storage systems, testing, Demand Response)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Simulation tools<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sofware improvement for the Modelica language through the Cooperation with Modelica Association and OpenModelica\u00a0Consortium;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing and testing of Functional Mockup Unit (FMU)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of models for the simulation of hybrid and electric power trains, and for the analysis of electrified transport systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Electrical machines<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Study and analysis of brushless motors with radial, axial, tubular flux and LSPM configuration, for the application in:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>road vehicle power trains;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>direct drive motors for use in building machines;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hybrid systems for earthmoving machines;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>hydraulic pump drives;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>very high-speed brushless generators (> 100000 rpm) for oil &amp; gas industry use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Medium voltage transformers with amorfhous core,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>software for FEM analysis (Ansys Multiphisics, Magnet) and 3D cad modelling (Solidworks).
