This year, the sixth edition of the International Humanitarian Technology Conference, IEEE IHTC, will take place from November 27 to 30, 2024, in Bari. It is the first time that this prestigious Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) conference, which has around 470,000 members worldwide, will be held in Europe, and we are thrilled that one of EnSiEL’s partner locations has been chosen to host it.
EnSiEL played a key role in supporting the bid to bring the conference to Italy, demonstrating its commitment to promoting innovation and social impact through humanitarian technologies. We are confident that EnSiEL’s contribution will be crucial to the success of this globally significant event.
The event is co-organized by IEEE Regions R8 Europe, Middle East, and Africa, R7 (Canada), and R9 (Latin America), together with our IEEE Italy Section.
This highly interdisciplinary conference will feature participation from five IEEE Societies (Power Engineering, Industry Application, Education, Geoscience and Remote Sensing, Oceanic Engineering) as well as numerous Chapters of the Italian section across various fields.
Goals and Special Collaborations
The conference will address a broad range of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. As such, there is an ongoing collaboration with the UN Logistics Base and UNESCO to organize special sessions, with the expected participation of officials from these international organizations.
Key Role of Electric Energy Systems
A fundamental role will be played by electric energy systems, not only for their contribution to mitigating global climate change but also for the prospects of electrical development in the countries of the Global South.
Focus Areas – Technologies for Humanity
The thematic areas of the conference include:
- Clean and accessible energy
- Critical events and adverse living conditions
- Improvement of quality of life
Call for Papers
Submissions of original and innovative research results on all the aforementioned topics are welcome. Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE IHTC 2024 Conference Proceedings on the IEEEXplore digital library (indexed by Scopus). Subsequently, the program committee may select the best papers for further review and publication in IEEE Industry Application Society (IAS) periodicals.
