In this section, we present our national and international collaborations, partnerships, and alliances that demonstrate our close synergy with local institutions and entities and enrich our global perspective.

The cooperation agreement between EnSiEL and Terna holds great institutional significance and represents a synergy between the academic and industrial worlds. The goal is to develop scientific research in the field of electricity transmission and management. The research areas are numerous:
  • System Operator: generation flexibility, storage, energy sector coupling, DSR and transport flexibility, energy communities and business models, market design and governance.
  • Transmission Operator: innovative nanotechnologies applied to electrical assets, monitoring and control systems, new approaches to grid management, data analysis (advanced analytics), sustainability, circular economy, eco-design and lifecycle management, modeling of transmission electrical systems, electromagnetic interference, and HVDC plants.
Additionally, areas related to environmental sustainability, the safety of the electrical system, and the development of future scenarios for the Italian system are also being explored.

The collaboration between EnSiEL and E-Distribuzione focuses on studies and research in areas of significant scientific and national interest. These include:
  • Development of smart grids
  • Distributed generation
  • Flexibility services for the electrical system and the use of advanced technologies for the management and planning of electrical systems
  • Innovative methodologies for the maintenance of electrical infrastructure
  • Storage systems and service compensation
  • Improvement of electrical service quality and the resilience of distribution networks
  • Power quality and the new role of the Distribution System Operator (DSO)
  • IoT applications, Cost-Benefit Analysis methodologies, and the optimization of innovative projects

The collaboration between EnSiEL and Enel X aims to provide high-level scientific consultancy on topics such as:
  • Electricity generation in interconnected and isolated systems (fossil, nuclear, renewable)
  • Energy transmission and distribution systems (especially microgrids and smart grids)
  • Electricity markets and system resource optimization
  • Storage systems to enhance the flexibility of the energy system
